Henry Purcell, Ed Hirschman

Purcell's famous Trumpet Tune scored for Brass Quintet. The arrangement is fairly straightforward, but the ending does have some exciting trumpet ornamentation in a unexpected flurry of sixteenth notes that contrast nicely with the dotted eight-sixteenth feel of the rest of the piece. This work is not to be confused with Jeremiah Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary (Prince of Denmark's March) which has sometimes been incorrectly attributed to Purcell.
